Brief Overview

  • Cardano must increase its value by 14 times to return to its all-time peak, whereas XRP only requires a 179% rise. This indicates that XRP has a more manageable recovery trajectory.

  • ETFs linked to XRP experienced a 22% price rise in late September, but have since encountered outflows and a 15% decline in net assets.

  • Current stimulants for Cardano lack defined schedules or quantifiable results, with initiatives like Charles Hoskinson working on a new smart contract language.

During late summer, both XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) and Cardano (CRYPTO:ADA) experienced significant gains, which largely evaporated by October 2026. Investors weighing XRP against Cardano are keen to discern which coin presents a clearer path to recovery before year-end.

Currently, XRP is valued at $1.31, having dropped 12.1% in October and 16.3% over the past month. Conversely, Cardano is trading near $0.215, facing a decline of 13.7% within the same 30-day timeframe.

The contrast between the two coins becomes clearer when considering their distance from past peaks. XRP is currently 64% below its peak of $3.65, while Cardano is an astounding 93% away from its high of $3.09.

For either cryptocurrency to make a complete recovery, they must revisit their all-time highs. XRP needs a 178.6% increase, moving from $1.31 to $3.65, whereas Cardano faces a daunting task of rising nearly 14 times from $0.215 to $3.09. Cardano’s near-total loss in peak value necessitates a more significant climb.

Additionally, the issue of supply dilution complicates recovery prospects. Since their peak valuations, both cryptocurrencies have experienced an increase in circulating supply. For XRP, Ripple has released coins from escrow, while Cardano distributes staking rewards from its reserves. Hence, reaching $3.65 or $3.09 now entails a higher valuation for each network.
