The second phase of the Battlefield 6 public beta has begun. In anticipation, Electronic Arts implemented adjustments based on player input from the preceding week of first-person shooter action, prominently featuring changes to the playlist and the introduction of personalized matchmaking.

These aren’t radical overhauls, but they aim to enhance the overall beta experience, especially with the debut of the Empire State map alongside content from week one. Additionally, the Rush and Squad Deathmatch game types are now available.

As the second beta weekend commenced at 9:00 AM BST on August 14th, Electronic Arts quietly released a news release the previous evening detailing these “learnings and changes”. The playlist revisions are potentially the most significant, as developers strive to offer “more variety and choice” through increased rotation of game modes within the available playlists.

For example, the All-Out Warfare playlist now includes Breakthrough, Conquest, and Rush for this weekend’s beta. “Rotating multiple modes within playlists helps us understand what our community enjoys as we shape the launch experience, and enables us to keep more fan-favorite modes available at the same time,” according to EA. A complete schedule outlining which modes will be featured in various playlists throughout the beta weekend’s four days can be found in the announcement.

The custom search feature enables players to select their preferred map and game mode combinations before initiating matchmaking. The game will then attempt to place you in a session that matches your selections, assuming a suitable session with an open slot is available. EA emphasizes that this is “not a server browser.” This functionality will be available for open weapon mode playlists during the beta.

Also noteworthy is the inclusion of training grounds, an introductory mode, and a walkthrough explaining how Rush matches function, catering to newcomers who are joining the Battlefield beta for the first time this weekend.

It remains to be seen if the initial wait times will be shorter or if the other early technical problems have been fully resolved from the first weekend. Remember to activate secure boot if required. Consider it a deterrent against cheating, reminding you that cheating is unacceptable.
