Get ready for a touch of magic! A first glimpse of “Enchanted by Nature,” the brand new expansion pack for The Sims 4, has been unveiled ahead of its release next month. Maxis and EA had previously announced the debut trailer would drop today, with an in-depth look at gameplay scheduled for June 26.
This exciting expansion, focused on all things nature, marks the game’s first substantial addition since Businesses & Hobbies arrived in March.
The big news? Fairies are making their grand return to The Sims! It appears the developers have drawn inspiration from the overwhelmingly popular debut of fairies as a playable supernatural life state in The Sims 3. And honestly, who didn’t see this coming? It’s hard to imagine EA teasing Simmers with such a beloved feature only to leave them hanging.
In a surprise move, your Sims can now embrace a fully outdoor lifestyle. They can forage for food, bathe in natural springs, and sleep under the open sky. But it’s not all carefree fun; Sims may encounter some brand new and unusual ailments. Luckily, the new Apothecary feature – perhaps a crafting skill, a profession, or something else entirely – will allow Sims to treat these conditions using traditional remedies. We’ll learn more in the gameplay trailer later this month.
All of this takes place in Innisgreen, the new world, which draws some inspiration from Ireland. Picture Ireland as seen through a lens of folklore and fantasy. Think more Hobbiton than modern-day town, unless the Irish have secretly started living in whimsical treehouses! That said, one neighborhood appears to be inspired by Cobh in County Cork, known for its iconic “Deck of Cards” painted houses.
“Enchanted by Nature” is part of a broader, nature-themed season for The Sims 4. While the expansion drops on July 10, the limited-time “Nature’s Calling” event begins on June 24, setting the stage for the adventures to come. Following that, a game update on July 1 will introduce new nature-inspired outfits and customization choices.
This exciting content is all part of The Sims 4’s June-August development schedule, unveiled by Maxis last week. The roadmap also revealed another significant update planned for August 19, which promises even more options for customizing your Sims’ worlds and experiences.
Don’t miss the “Enchanted by Nature” gameplay reveal, arriving in just two weeks on Thursday, June 26!
