Prepare to return to the post-apocalyptic world, as Fallout is slated for a second season debut this December. After months of anticipation, a sneak peek trailer premiered at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, offering fans a first glimpse into the action-packed events of the upcoming season of the Prime Video hit.
Mark your calendars! Fallout season 2 will be available starting December 17th.
Based on the acclaimed video game franchise from Bethesda, Jonathan Nolan’s Fallout chronicles the intertwined destinies of a diverse group of characters. Ella Purnell stars as Lucy MacLean, and Walter Goggins embodies the enigmatic Ghoul, both taking center stage in this compelling adaptation.
The inaugural season saw Lucy’s world irrevocably changed following a catastrophic wedding that left her Vault in ruins and her father, Overseer Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan), missing. Driven by determination, Lucy ventures into the perilous Wasteland to find him. Her quest leads her to confront dangerous individuals, including the Ghoul, and crosses her path with Maximus (Aaron Moten), a member of the formidable Brotherhood of Steel.
Throughout the initial eight episodes, the series slowly revealed the secrets surrounding Vault 33, the history of Vault-Tec, and its complex influence over the desolate world. Echoing the themes explored in the video game series, Fallout often presents a biting commentary on capitalism and various aspects of contemporary society that could lead to societal collapse.
At the close of season 1, Lucy uncovered her father’s location and learned disturbing truths about his disappearance. She also discovered the horrifying secrets concealed within the Vault, specifically the breeding program involving Vault Dwellers and the cryogenic preservation of Vault-Tec executives from the past, all geared toward crafting “super managers” to lead a new civilization.
Unfortunately for Lucy and the Ghoul, Hank managed to escape, commandeering Maximus’s Power Armor and setting course for a location familiar to fans of the game series: New Vegas, a vibrant metropolis teeming with diverse characters and conflicting factions.
Fallout season 2 will premiere on December 17th, exclusively on Prime Video. Furthermore, a third season has already been greenlit.
