Ethereum’s staking mechanism is facing increasing pressure. The number of Ether being withdrawn is currently exceeding the amount being deposited, resulting in a record high for the validator exit queue.

Data from Validator Queue indicates a significant imbalance. As of August 27th, over 1,023,560 ETH, an estimated $4.6 billion, was queued for withdrawal from the staking system. In contrast, approximately 580,637 ETH, worth roughly $2.6 billion, awaited entry into the network.

This imbalance is also causing longer waiting times for validators. Current estimates suggest stakers now face an average delay of 17 days and 18 hours before their exit is complete. This is the longest waiting period seen in the last month.

This trend began around July 21st, which marked the point when the withdrawal queue first exceeded the entry queue.

Since then, the difference between the withdrawal and deposit rates has consistently grown, highlighting a continuing trend of capital exiting Ethereum staking.
