Melania Trump, former First Lady of the United States, has launched the Presidential AI Challenge, a new competition for students.
This initiative welcomes participation from young innovators, spanning kindergarten to 12th grade, with the goal of fostering exploration into how artificial intelligence (AI) can address and resolve issues within their own communities.
Contestants are challenged to form teams and create AI-driven solutions that tackle real-world problems. An adult mentor, such as a teacher, is required to guide each team throughout the process.

In a video posted on X on August 26, the former First Lady stated:
Just as the United States once pioneered advancements in aviation, we are now prepared to take the lead in the AI revolution.
She referenced her personal experience using AI to generate an artificial intelligence-powered version of her 2024 autobiography, highlighting how it revealed the potential and advantages of this technology.
Students who are interested in participating can register on the challenge’s official website. The deadline for submitting projects is January 20, 2026. In 2026, each state will select its winning teams, which will then move forward to one of five regional competitions.
The finalists from these regional events will be invited to Washington, D.C. for a three-day event held at the White House in June 2026. During this event, they will have the opportunity to showcase their projects to government officials, educators, and other distinguished guests.
The national-level winners will be awarded $10,000. This prize money can either be given to their school or divided amongst the team members.
