The research paper, leveraging employment statistics provided by ADP, a payroll solutions provider, investigates the transformations occurring in professions highly susceptible to AI integration.

The research indicates that early-career professionals are bearing the brunt of AI’s impact. Since 2022, entry-level job prospects within AI-vulnerable sectors have diminished by 13%. Conversely, seasoned professionals within the same sectors have not experienced a similar downturn.

Specifically, for those embarking on careers within sectors such as customer service and software engineering, the availability of positions declined by roughly 20% from the end of 2022 to the middle of 2025. Intriguingly, more seasoned professionals performing equivalent functions witnessed an actual increase in employment figures.

Similar patterns are evident within accounting, administrative assistance, programming, and sales. Across these domains, individuals aged 22 to 25 experienced a 6% reduction in job attainment. In contrast, older workers operating in similar roles saw expansion, ranging from 6% to 9%.

A potential explanation for this disparity stems from the notion that new entrants to the workforce tend to rely heavily on information sources also utilized in the training of AI systems.

In contrast, veteran employees frequently possess specialized, real-world knowledge accumulated over time. These capabilities, encompassing communication, strategic thinking, or domain-specific insights, are comparatively challenging for AI to replicate.
