Hideo Kojima and his esteemed studio, Kojima Productions, are gearing up to celebrate a decade of innovation with a special event titled "Beyond the Strand." This celebratory extravaganza will unfold on September 23rd at the TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, and thankfully, will be broadcast live for fans worldwide. The gaming icon has teased that the show will offer peeks at the studio's upcoming projects.

While the official anniversary of Kojima Productions isn’t until December 16, 2015, it seems the visionary behind the iconic *Metal Gear* series is eager to share what his team has been diligently working on, particularly now that *Death Stranding 2* is in development. Kojima Productions has notably produced two entries in the *Death Stranding* universe. However, fans are equally excited about the anticipated horror title, *OD*, currently in production, starring Sophia Lillis (*I Am Not Okay With This*, *It*) and Hunter Schafer (*Euphoria*, *Cuckoo*). Also on the horizon is *Physint*, a project many view as a spiritual successor to *Metal Gear*.
Despite the excitement, *Physint* is reportedly still at least five years from release, and tangible updates regarding *OD* have been scarce since its initial announcement. Development on *OD* faced a temporary setback due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but has since resumed. The question remains: will “Beyond the Strand” offer glimpses of these projects, perhaps even in-game footage? Considering Kojima’s penchant for dramatic reveals, extensive gameplay demos may be unlikely. However, given the event’s scheduled two-and-a-half-hour duration, some substantial announcements are anticipated.
Adding to the anticipation is news of a *Death Stranding* movie adaptation. Could we see an update on that front? Perhaps even a glimpse of Norman Reedus navigating challenging terrain? Kojima has also alluded to further *DS* adaptations, though details remain shrouded in secrecy. There have also been hints regarding additional TV or film projects leading up to *Physint*, but Kojima is known for grand announcements that often precede actual releases.
The only confirmed details about “Beyond the Strand” beyond the aforementioned “glimpses” are the promise of “special guest appearances.” Will Geoff Keighley be among them? The omission of Keighley would undoubtedly be a bold move.
For those near Tokyo, tickets for the live event became available on September 2nd through a lottery system. Details about the livestream will be revealed closer to the event date. A particularly humorous detail found in the event’s fine print states: “We cannot be held responsible for any disputes between attendees.”
