Since its release, Hollow Knight: Silksong is generating buzz, and players are sharing their initial experiences. A notable topic is the game’s perceived challenge level.

The original Hollow Knight built a reputation for its demanding gameplay, making it somewhat expected that this follow-up would present a similar level of difficulty. However, some gamers are suggesting that Team Cherry, the developers, may have increased the challenge too much in this new installment.

While the overall difficulty of Silksong is undeniable, some players are finding the opening stages particularly tough. The situation is compounded by the game’s limited options for accessibility, leading to the emergence of player-created modifications aimed at adjusting the difficulty settings.

While Team Cherry hasn’t directly addressed the conversations surrounding Silksong’s challenging combat, they have announced plans to implement balance adjustments.

According to a statement posted on Steam, update 1.0.28470 is scheduled to arrive by the middle of next week on all platforms. The primary focus of this patch is to resolve technical issues, but it will also include “minor” balance adjustments impacting the early parts of the game.

The patch notes detail that the early-game bosses Moorwing and Sister Splinter will receive a slight reduction in difficulty. Additionally, the damage inflicted by Sandcarvers will be decreased. The economy is also seeing some adjustments, with a small price reduction for mid-game Bellway and Bell Bench locations, and an increase in rosary rewards obtained from relics, psalm cylinders, and courier deliveries.

Here’s a complete rundown of the changes:

  • Resolved an issue where players could remain without a cloak after the Slab escape sequence.
  • Addressed a problem where the wish Infestation Operation was sometimes uncompletable in the later stages of the game.
  • Fixed an issue preventing the completion of the wish Beast in the Bells when the Bell Beast was summoned at the Bilewater Bellway during the late game.
  • Corrected a bug that caused players to become stuck floating after using a down-bounce on certain projectiles.
  • Resolved issues where courier deliveries were sometimes inaccessible in Act 3.
  • Corrected the craft bind behavior when in memories.
  • Fixed a soft-lock that occurred with the Lace tool deflect at the beginning of the battle in Deep Docks.
  • Addressed an issue that could cause Silk Snippers to become stuck out of bounds in the Chapel of the Reaper.
  • Prevented an issue where Hornet could become inverted if taking damage during a specific moment while binding using Claw Mirrors.
  • Ensured that the Snitch Pick properly provides rosaries and shell shards as intended.
  • Removed the float override input (down + jump, after player has Faydown Cloak).
  • Slightly reduced the difficulty of the early game bosses, Moorwing and Sister Splinter.
  • Decreased the damage output of Sandcarvers.
  • Slightly increased the scale of the pea pod collider.
  • Slightly reduced prices for mid-game Bellway and Bell Bench locations.
