Recent times haven’t been the smoothest for Diablo 4, a sentiment widely shared. It’s particularly noteworthy when it appears even Blizzard acknowledges the situation. In an unconventional move last August, the studio opted to unveil details about the game’s forthcoming Public Test Realm (PTR) through a Discord Q&A session.
This PTR, version 2.4.0, features a significant portion of the Season of Infernal Chaos content. Traditionally, such a substantial update would merit several developer livestreams. Now, after the PTR has concluded, and with the new season just under two weeks away, a developer livestream is finally on the horizon.
Blizzard has announced that the next Developer Update livestream will be broadcast on Tuesday, September 16th. Notably, this isn’t one of the more relaxed “Campfire Chat” formats, which could be interpreted as a positive indicator of the significance of the announcements to come.
The broadcast will commence at the usual times: 11am Pacific Time, 2pm Eastern Time, and 7pm British Time. It will serve as the final preview of Season of Infernal Chaos, which is Diablo 4’s tenth season. The new season is anticipated to launch on September 23rd, leaving just enough time to build anticipation.
As is customary, a panel of developers will provide insights into the major content additions and changes implemented since the season’s 2.4.0 PTR, which took place in August. The official announcement mentioned Chaos Armor, Chaos Rifts, and an updated take on the Infernal Hordes as key topics for discussion.
A Q&A segment will conclude the stream, following the familiar format. However, the livestream itself will feature changes to its structure. Blizzard hasn’t specified the exact nature of these changes, leaving fans to tune in next week to discover them firsthand.
Viewers can access the livestream through Diablo’s official channels on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and TikTok. Moreover, by watching any Diablo 4 livestream on Twitch for a minimum of 30 minutes while the Developer Update is live, viewers can earn a free cosmetic item: the Fusillader’s Arc Rogue Crossbow.
Season 10 represents the last announced season on the Diablo 4 roadmap extending into 2025, initially revealed back in April. This will take players through December, effectively concluding Diablo 4 seasons for the year 2025. Beyond the inclusion of the upcoming IP collaboration, Blizzard faces a significant challenge in creating a compelling case for Infernal Chaos, especially given that Season 9 has been met with considerable disappointment.
