Within the elevated reaches of Greymoor in Hollow Knight: Silksong lies Sinner’s Road. This zone presents players with both an optional challenge and an alternative route toward the game’s second act, showcasing Silksong’s design philosophy of offering multiple pathways to achieve objectives.
To fully navigate and explore every corner of Sinner’s Road, equipping specific tools is vital. Acquiring the Cling Grip and, more importantly, the Faydown Cloak is essential for unlocking the area’s secrets. While not mandatory, the Clawline can also prove useful during traversal.
This guide provides a walkthrough on how to access Sinner’s Road, overcome the unique challenges posed by its inhabitants, and ultimately reach Bilewater, the area that follows. If you are finding this region particularly difficult, follow the strategies detailed below to successfully conquer Sinner’s Road.
Navigating to Sinner’s Road
To begin your journey to Sinner’s Road, you must first travel to Greymoor via the Bellway transit system. Upon exiting the station in Greymoor, ascend the wall located to your right and proceed through the exit at the uppermost level.
Continue traveling right until you locate a switch controlling an elevator. Activate the switch, ride the elevator to the top, then jump onto the elevator’s roof and head toward the platforms to the right. Utilize pogo jumps off the airborne balloons, or deploy the Faydown Cloak, to navigate to a series of ascending platforms.
Follow the route upward, employing wall jumps where necessary, until you discover an entrance. Proceed inside to officially begin your exploration of Sinner’s Road.
Delving into the Depths
The initial chamber of Sinner’s Road introduces the area’s primary hostile force: the Muckroaches. These enemies exhibit aggressive behavior, possess high speed, and utilize a perilous grab attack. A recommended strategy involves leaping over them as they telegraph their grapple with a roar, then counter-attacking with melee strikes.
Before advancing, note the Green Prince, who is contained within a locked cage; more on this later.
Progress to the next chamber on the right, where you are presented with multiple paths. Ascending upwards is recommended initially. Ascend using wall jumps, being mindful of the projectile-wielding enemy floating above. It’s possible to deflect these projectiles with well-timed strikes, or alternatively, dodge and attack from below.
Head to the left, then jump into the alcove. Inside, you will find a gap with a swinging spiked ball. Use a double jump or pogo across, finding a bench and Shakra. Purchase the map from them, then check out our guide to fix the bench. Rest and then head outside.
Return to the area where you previously encountered the projectile enemy and take the open door to the right. Exercise caution to avoid falling into the water below, as it teems with leeches capable of draining your Silk, thus preventing the use of skills and healing.
Traverse the area, which is easier if you have the right tools. Pay attention to the locked door and continue upward, employing pogo jumps on the cages and spiked balls.
When you reach the top left platform, jump and glide over to the right. Enter the tent, where you can accept a quest to get ten Muckroach guts. You will be rewarded with an offensive tool called Tacks, which are very handy.
Return outside and head back to the farthest left platform. Drop down into the pathway, then unlock the door by hitting the switch underneath. This leads back to the main shaft.
Locating Styx
Ascend all the way to the top, using a double jump, then head into the top area. Open the path on the right, then head up. Navigate across the platforms, avoiding the big chain-wielding enemies and Muckroaches below.
Progress into the next area on the far right, which presents a large vertical room featuring exits at the top and bottom. Begin by exploring the upper exit.
Defeat the swordsman, then navigate a narrow corridor of spikes. Use the safe spots and then head into the path on the left. Follow this up, then engage with the mini-boss.
He’s strong, but slow, so jumping over him and slicing him from behind works wonders. He’ll drop a small key, which you should hang on to for a moment. Make your way back down, then all the way to the door on the bottom right.
Leap across the gaps, finding your way to one that descends into a spike pit. Descend down with the Drifter’s Cloak, noting two Muckroaches guarding a section.
Eliminate them, then interact with the entity that appears. This is Styx, who will provide rewards over the course of the game if you return.
Escaping to Bilewater
Return to the area where the Green Prince was confined within a cage. Open the cage, then head directly to the right on the bottom path.
This area can be dangerous, so be careful of the Muckroaches and the flying swordsmen. At the end of the room, take the path down into the chamber below.
At the bottom, you’ll find the Barbed Bracelet. This item will increase your damage output, but also increase damage taken. Once you’ve gotten that, you’re ready to escape.
Return to the large vertical room, then find the middle exit. You’ll have to drop through a broken cage, but once you reach this, you’ll be able to exit into Bilewater and escape Sinner’s Road.
