Bilal Bin Saqib, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant focusing on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency (SAPM), represented the nation of Pakistan at the recent Bitcoin Asia Conference held in Hong Kong. He highlighted Pakistan’s growing presence and unique stance on the global cryptocurrency stage.

He stressed that well-defined regulations are crucial for widespread acceptance of digital currencies, a sentiment echoed by both domestic and international experts who have recognized the progress being made in Pakistan.

“A fundamental regulatory structure is essential for every nation to effectively participate in the realms of exchanges, custody solutions, and stablecoins,” he stated, characterizing such a framework as a significant “game changer” that will drive the global adoption of Bitcoin.

The establishment of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority earlier this year marks a pivotal moment, positioning Pakistan as the first country in South Asia with its own independent crypto regulatory body. This development is considered vital for the advancement of the digital finance sector within the region.

We can offer assistance to nations like Morocco, Malaysia, and numerous other developing economies in their efforts to adopt digital asset frameworks,” he elaborated.
