The Putrified Ducts, a location within Hollow Knight: Silksong, presents a significant challenge to reach. Refer to our comprehensive Silksong interactive map; the Putrified Ducts are situated in Pharloom’s northeastern sector, but accessing it isn’t as simple as walking in that direction.
Here’s a breakdown of how to get to the Putrified Ducts in Hollow Knight: Silksong, detailing two possible routes you can take.
Reaching the Putrified Ducts via Memorium
The more commonly taken route to the Putrified Ducts involves navigating from the Choral Chambers through a restricted passage that leads to the Memorium area.
It sounds straightforward, however, you will need the Faydown Cloak and its associated double jump skill to clear this particular jump.
If you choose this path, you’ll need to take these steps:
- Thoroughly explore the Choral Chambers. As optional steps, unlock the Grand Bellway Station and Grand Bellway Ventrica Station, together with the Ventrica Station by the First Shrine (Songclave). These will make getting to the Memorium passage much easier.
- From the Choral Chambers’ lowest point, make your way down into Whiteward and then the Underworks. At the center of the Underworks, you must acquire the Clawline ability.
- With the Clawline in your possession, enter The Slab. You can do this by heading through the passage that is northwest of the Citadel Spa. Find the Bellway station in the lower section, and go west into Mount Fay (it is not necessary to be kidnapped and deposited into The Slab for this route).
- Ascend to Mount Fay’s peak. At the top, you’ll obtain the Faydown Cloak, giving you the double jump ability.
Once you’ve passed through the vertical passage into Memorium, break through the ceiling to enter the bigger area, then proceed to the second-lowest exit to the right. Continue until you find another large area and then descend. Go into the room with the wooden sign.
Within this space, you may want to use 70 rosaries on the machine to gain the Memorium map. To move on towards the Putrified Ducts, jump towards the grey drapes suspended from the ceiling, uncovering a secret path.
Jump down from the ledge, proceed across the bridge, and strike the breakable wall located on the other side (double jump is required). Within the room filled with spikes, double jump again to reach the opening above. This path leads directly into the Putrified Ducts.
Accessing the Putrified Ducts through Bilewater
Alternatively, you can reach the Putrified Ducts by travelling from the Bilewater region located to the south.
Keep in mind that the path through Bilewater may be more difficult than the one through Memorium. It is full of a multitude of enemies, difficult parkour, and even a challenging boss encounter, so the Memorium route is recommended. Since progressing through Bilewater without the Faydown Cloak and its double jump ability seems impossible, the preparation phase for both routes remains the same.
If you’d still prefer to get to the Putrified Ducts via Bilewater, follow these instructions:
- Enter the Sinner’s Road region, which can be found above Greymoor.
- Proceed east until you arrive at the bench sign inside the vertical chamber; you may wish to rest here. Note that the bench is broken, but you can repair it by destroying the wall located above the bench (on the left) and completing a short parkour run.
- Leave the vertical chamber through the ceiling, heading east. Destroy the wall to enter Bilewater.
- Keep moving right until you find the large vertical chamber. From the chamber’s left side, double jump into the narrow opening.
- Use parkour to go upward, then take the upper road to the east when you are unable to advance further. Continue along the path as it loops back toward the upper left, leading to a fight with the Groal The Great boss.
- Defeat this boss, leave the arena to the left and then jump upwards to enter the Putrified Ducts.
