Get ready for a fresh take on horror! Queens of the Dead, a brand new horror-comedy flick mixing zombies and the fabulous world of drag, is hitting theaters this October. The first preview trailer has just been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the mayhem.
Helmed by Tina Romero (daughter of the legendary George A. Romero, creator of the zombie genre), who brings her TV and short film experience to this project, Queens of the Dead marks her feature film directorial debut.
The story kicks off when a zombie outbreak crashes a massive warehouse party thrown by a group of flamboyant drag queens, eccentric club kids, and assorted party animals. Realizing they’re on their own, this diverse crew must overcome their differences and band together to battle the flesh-hungry undead. The only question is, will they survive each other first?
The trailer features a star-studded cast, including Katy O’Brian (Loves Lies Bleeding, Twisters), Jaquel Spivey (Mean Girls), Tomas Matos (Fire Island), Nina West (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow), Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story), Dominique Jackson (Pose) and Margaret Cho (It’s My Party). Expect stellar performances, buckets of blood, and side-splitting laughter alongside the jump scares, thanks to the film’s captivating concept and remarkable ensemble.
Queens of the Dead was initially showcased at the Tribeca Festival earlier this year, where it captured the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature – a testament to its appeal. There’s always room for more queer, campy horror in our lives. Judging by the trailer, Queens of the Dead promises to be a triple threat: delivering fierce looks, having plenty of bite, and leaving audiences craving more.
Independent Film Company and Shudder will be unleashing Queens of the Dead in cinemas starting October 24th. Don’t miss it!
