PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin is broadening its reach, now integrated into eight additional blockchain ecosystems.
This significant expansion leverages LayerZero’s Stargate Hydra technology, designed to facilitate more adaptable and decentralized connections for PYUSD across various platforms.
According to a September 18 announcement from LayerZero, this update introduces PYUSD0, a new version of the stablecoin. This permissionless variant of PayPal’s digital currency permits seamless movement across different networks, eliminating the need for centralized authorization.

LayerZero clarifies that the PYUSD0 version will be interoperable with the existing PYUSD and maintain complete consistency across different blockchains.
The newly added networks include Tron
LayerZero’s Stargate Hydra will facilitate the transfer of PYUSD0 across these various chains. LayerZero’s framework will also oversee essential technical operations, encompassing the generation, elimination, and administration of the fresh tokens.
Prior to this expansion, PYUSD was already operating on Ethereum
Bryan Pellegrino, the CEO of LayerZero Labs, suggested that developments like this are a sign that a more interconnected financial ecosystem is on the horizon.
