Since its initial launch in 2022, ARMA Reforger has prioritized multiplayer experiences. The game’s developer, Bohemia Interactive, has supported large-scale battles with servers accommodating up to 128 participants. Building upon the legacy of earlier titles in the series, ARMA Reforger has cultivated a thriving community of modders. These creators have expanded the game’s scope, introducing scenarios ranging from World War I combat to contemporary warfare.

While these multiplayer and modding capabilities are impressive, many players crave a dedicated single-player story. Now, two years after ARMA Reforger’s exit from early access, players are finally getting the first official campaign. This new narrative adventure is set on the Kolgujev map, which is set to be included in an upcoming update.

Content creators, who had early access to ARMA Reforger update 1.6, revealed details about the five-part campaign. The story focuses on a clandestine operation where American special forces target vital Soviet military installations located on Kolgujev Island.

For those familiar with the Metal Gear Solid series, don’t expect a similar storyline involving Shagohods or confrontations with The Boss. This new ARMA Reforger content is named Operation Omega and presents a distinct narrative.

Operation Omega: A New ARMA Reforger Campaign

Bohemia Interactive has kept players on their toes in anticipation of the upcoming patch. Krzysztof ‘Klamacz’ Bielawski, from the Czech-based counterintelligence team, has been leaving cryptic clues and puzzles, increasing the hype.

The majority of these teasers pointed to ARMA Reforger patch 1.5, which is currently undergoing testing within the game’s experimental branch. However, following an early test of patch 1.6 with select content creators, the embargo has been lifted.

Dynamic has posted a complete playthrough of the ARMA Reforger Operation Omega campaign, available on YouTube without commentary:

If you wish to avoid spoilers, you might need to exercise patience before experiencing the new single-player campaign firsthand.

While Bohemia Interactive hasn’t officially announced a release date for ARMA Reforger 1.5, community speculation suggests it will arrive within the next month. Specifics regarding the release date for 1.6 remain undisclosed. The development team has confirmed that patch 1.6 will deliver a significant feature that has been eagerly awaited.

ARMA Reforger: Kolgujev Map Delayed to Update 1.6

Earlier in the week, project leader ‘Klamacz’ explained in a Reddit post that the release of the new Kolgujev map has been pushed to update 1.6, contrary to previous assumptions that it would be included in update 1.5.

According to the developer, this shift is largely a “technicality.” He clarified that the team determined it was more advantageous to “create a new branch” instead of “releasing the previous one on stable.” Consequently, the 1.6 branch now encompasses the Kolgujev map.

‘Klamacz’ made it clear that this change is “not related” to any stability concerns or other issues surrounding ARMA Reforger 1.5. Both upcoming patches are being regarded “as one major update but with multiple steps towards it.”

ARMA Reforger is available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, establishing itself as one of the most authentic and realistic shooters currently accessible on consoles.
