Grab your virtual fishing gear! Minecraft is getting a new, educational fishing experience. Mojang Studios has teamed up with Conservation International to release Friendly Fishing, an exciting new add-on. Described as a captivating fishing expedition, it’s brimming with aquatic life – from tuna and clams to sharks and hidden treasures – and it’s available to play right now!
Beyond the thrill of exploring new digital waters and catching unique fish, this add-on aims to educate players about the critical issue of ocean pollution. As you cast your line, you’ll reel in not only a variety of marine animals, but also unsightly plastic waste. This waste can then be repurposed into crafting materials for special in-game items. By cleaning up the virtual ocean, you’ll unlock over 90 unique fish species and gain valuable insights into real-world ocean cleanup initiatives.
The Friendly Fishing add-on also includes an aquarium to showcase your catches and the ability to don scuba gear and explore intriguing underwater ruins.
Microsoft is demonstrating its commitment to environmental conservation with an initial donation of $100,000 to Conservation International. Furthermore, all net proceeds generated from sales of this add-on will be donated to support the important work of Conservation International.
Friendly Fishing is available for 990 Minecoins in the Minecraft Marketplace. Currently, $5.99 will purchase 1020 Minecoins.
Minecraft Live also featured announcements regarding The Copper Age update set to arrive next week, the holiday season 2025 update titled Mounts of Mayhem, and a forthcoming Dragon Ball Z collaboration, promising even more exciting content for Minecraft enthusiasts.
