Bitcoin Wealth Concentration: Analysis Reveals Uneven Distribution

A recent study into the distribution of Bitcoin ownership suggests a significant concentration of wealth within the network. Sani, one of the key figures behind Time Chain Index, a platform specializing in analyzing Bitcoin’s on-chain metrics, conducted an investigation into the Bitcoin address ecosystem to approximate the total number of individuals participating in the network.

The analysis revealed that a relatively small number of addresses – fewer than 20,000 – control a substantial portion of the total Bitcoin supply, exceeding 60%. The remaining Bitcoin supply is distributed among approximately 3.9 million active users.
