Following its introduction on September 25th and subsequent doubling in value, the
Plasma (CRYPTO: XPL) token, linked to the

Tether

(CRYPTO:

USDT

)
-supported stablecoin, has experienced a correction, declining by more than 33%.

What Transpired: Economist Alex Kruger
clarified
that the nearly 40% drop over a brief two-day period resulted from investors who participated in the initial coin offering outside of the U.S. taking profits after their tokens were unlocked. He also noted unusually high funding rates, suggesting continued selling pressure.

Once this selling subsides, expectations are for a significant upward price correction.

Trader Altcoin Sherpa
observed relentless selling activity with minimal upward bounces. Despite taking a loss on perpetual contracts, they are holding spot XPL and considering $1 as a potential entry point.

They cautioned against trying to “catch falling knives,” emphasizing the inherent risk due to momentum and supply dynamics often outweighing fundamental analysis.

Trader Lord Durden
pointed out that prematurely declaring a “generational bottom” can be misleading and detrimental.

Key indicators for a bullish reversal include reclaiming support levels, successful retests, and a breakout above the 4-hour downtrend line.

The $1.11 level represents a vital daily support; additional support thresholds are being monitored should the price decline further.

Significance: Since its mainnet launch, deposits into Aave’s
platform
on the Plasma blockchain have surpassed $6.5 billion, making it the second-largest Aave deployment within a week.

On September 25th, Plasma introduced its XPL token alongside the launch of a digital banking solution, Plasma One, distributing 25 million tokens to early depositors, irrespective of the size of their initial deposits.

This distribution model aims to ensure widespread and aligned ownership of the token.

Despite this temporary dip, traders perceive Plasma as one of the limited avenues to gain direct exposure to stablecoins in 2025, suggesting it may be favorably positioned in the coming year.
