RALEIGH, NC – Speaker of the House Destin Hall, representing Granite Falls (Republican party), has officially declared the formation of a specialized committee within the North Carolina House of Representatives. This announcement took place this past Wednesday and concerns blockchain technology and digital assets.

According to a statement released by Speaker Hall, the core mission of the newly formed committee is to delve into the world of “innovative technologies, assess how they might reshape North Carolina’s economic landscape, and propose regulatory measures that foster creativity while safeguarding the interests of consumers.”

Representatives Allen Chesser (Republican, Nash County) and David Willis (Republican, Union County) will jointly lead the committee as co-chairs.

“We express our gratitude to Speaker Hall for entrusting us with the responsibility of serving on this crucial committee,” stated Chesser and Willis in a collaborative press release. “North Carolina is uniquely positioned to take the lead in developing frameworks around these evolving technologies, which will invariably influence our economy, monetary institutions, and the security of private data.”

The representatives further added, “The committee’s efforts will prioritize cultivating an environment where innovation can flourish, while simultaneously implementing necessary protections for both consumers and businesses. We are eager to collaborate with our fellow legislators, industry leaders, and relevant parties to craft well-considered recommendations. These recommendations aim to ensure North Carolina remains a leader in advanced technology and maintain its competitive edge in the global arena.”
