The trial period for Battlefield 6 proved very popular, but the game’s publisher, EA, has announced substantial alterations will be implemented in the final edition upon its release later this week.

A significant day-one update awaits players, even those who pre-downloaded the game, or perhaps obtained it ahead of schedule. According to EA, this update includes over 200 revisions.

Specific details about these changes remain largely under wraps. However, the revealed updates impact numerous aspects, from revised map layouts and weapon balancing to improved user interface clarity. EA has also offered reasoning behind some alterations, based on user feedback during the beta phase.

For a closer look at specific modifications introduced in the day-one patch, the Community Update offers detailed insights.

Bringing Back The Old Rivalry

The Battlefield 6 beta provided extensive data for the development team, DICE, to gauge community preferences.

Based on Steam metrics alone, they possess a more comprehensive dataset compared to Treyarch’s upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

While the Black Ops 7 beta remains active, Battlefield 6’s closed and open beta phases displayed significantly higher player engagement figures on Steam (as reported by Insider Gaming).

Notably, the open beta for Battlefield 6 attracted more than five times the player base of Black Ops 7’s beta. Battlefield 6 hit a peak of 521,079 simultaneous players, compared to Black Ops 7’s 99,574 (including participants in Black Ops 6 and Warzone). Twitch viewership also favored Battlefield 6.

EA has openly acknowledged the rivalry between these two prominent FPS franchises, even inserting a jab at Call of Duty in a Battlefield 6 advertisement. The Game Business reported the Battlefield 6 beta potentially influenced some Call of Duty players to switch allegiances.

Industry analysts are predicting strong initial sales for Battlefield 6.

Regardless of which franchise had the “better” beta, both DICE and Treyarch have demonstrated a commitment to incorporating community feedback and making tangible changes based on it. DICE, in particular, has shown willingness to be transparent about how user input translates to gameplay adjustments.

Considering the massive difference in player counts and DICE’s proactive communication, Battlefield 6 seems to have won the “beta battle.” However, only time will tell whether this translates into lasting success post-launch.
