Alphabet’s Google has rolled out several upgrades designed to enhance its Search engine experience and the Discover feed within the Google mobile application.
The updates bring enhancements through the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI), refreshed interface designs, and an innovative way for users to control ad visibility during their searches.
A newly introduced “Hide sponsored results” button empowers users to minimize the appearance of paid advertisements featured prominently within search outcomes. Clicking this button provides the capability to collapse the promoted content; however, a clear “Sponsored Results” label remains consistently visible on the page, ensuring transparency while browsing.

This “Sponsored” indicator remains visible above or below AI-driven summaries designed to deliver rapid insights near the top of your searches.
Despite these visual refinements, the maximum allowable number of text-based ads stays the same—capped at four within each display grouping. Google emphasizes that this design change aims to streamline the overall layout and facilitate improved user navigation, without leading to an increase in the total number of advertising units.
The revised “Sponsored” labeling will extend to other areas within the broader Google ecosystem. For example, promotions for merchandise in Google Shopping will now prominently display a “Sponsored Products” identifier.
Within the Discover section of the Google app, a new function introduces concise previews related to topics aligned with the user’s personalized interests. Users can tap on these previews to dive deeper, revealing more detailed content and pathways to additional resources.
Google Search will also incorporate a feature focusing on sports-related content. A “What’s New” button will aggregate and showcase the latest headlines and trending stories pertaining to specific athletes or teams.
