Mozilla is now globally rolling out the AI-driven search platform, Perplexity, as an integrated search choice for desktop Firefox users.
This launch comes after an earlier experiment conducted in select regions such as the US, UK, and Germany. The trial allowed Mozilla to analyze user behavior and determine the value of incorporating Perplexity permanently. Satisfied with user acceptance, Mozilla has broadened access to this feature.

Perplexity differs from traditional search by delivering concise summaries of information in response to queries, complete with links to the original sources. This allows users to receive answers directly, eliminating the need to browse through numerous websites. The choice of search engine, including Perplexity, can be managed via the search icon inside the address bar. Users also have the ability to configure Perplexity as their default search experience via Firefox settings.
Mozilla indicates that the successful Perplexity trial suggests that other AI-driven search technologies may be integrated into Firefox in the future. Besides the added search capability, Mozilla is also extending the availability of Firefox’s profile feature, enabling customized browser setups for various scenarios like work, personal activities, or school. Perplexity recently launched its Comet browser for free public use. Want to know what it offers? See the complete article here.
