1/ Introducing the Ledger Nano Gen5
Ledger unveiled its latest innovation: the Ledger Nano Gen5.
|
This device is packed with impressive features:
👉 Transaction Check: A feature already available on Ledger Flex and Stax, this carefully examines transactions and smart contracts before you give your approval. It immediately flags any potential red flags.
👉 Seamless dApp Connection: Say goodbye to complex wallet management and browser extensions.
👉 Simplified Payment Reception: Thanks to a fresh collaboration with Noah, a fintech innovator merging traditional finance with blockchain, users can now direct their salaries directly into their Ledger accounts.
👉 Customizable Badges: Users now have the option to personalize their Ledger devices with various badges, ranging from a crowned frog to a refreshing pint.
Certain badges showcase exclusive artwork from Susan Kare, the iconic designer behind the original Apple Macintosh icons.

2/ The End of “Hardware Wallets”
It might seem strange to declare this after highlighting their new device.
Here’s the scoop: Ledger is retiring the term “hardware wallet.” From now on, their devices will be known as signers.
This is because these devices do much more than simply store cryptocurrency; they also sign transactions, verify logins, and interact with various applications and smart contracts.
The company believes the term “signer” more accurately reflects this proactive functionality.
|
3/ SUI Collaboration
Ledger also announced a $400,000 giveaway in partnership with the SUI network, rewarding users who buy, swap, or stake SUI via Ledger devices.
That’s a SUI-weet deal!
Don’t worry, we’ll see ourselves out.
|
4/ A New Identity for Ledger Live
Ledger Live, the app used for managing your digital assets, has undergone a rebranding. Welcome to Ledger Wallet.
Beyond being a companion app to hardware devices, it is evolving into a comprehensive hub for managing digital value.
The new iteration boasts improved aesthetics, enhanced speed, and greater Web3 compatibility, seamlessly integrating CeFi and DeFi functionalities.
|
5/ Inside the Donjon
Ledger is renowned for its hardware devices, but it also houses a cutting-edge security division known as the Ledger Donjon.
This expert team of cryptographers and security specialists are dedicated to proactively hacking Ledger’s own products before malicious actors can.
|
They rigorously test everything, including:
👉 Software attacks (unauthorized access or data manipulation);
👉 Side-channel attacks (physical signal leaks);
👉 Fault attacks (intentional manipulation of circuits to uncover vulnerabilities).
At the Op3n event, attendees received an exclusive glimpse into the inner workings of the Donjon, with Ledger’s CTO, Charles Guillemet, providing live demonstrations of how they stress-test and analyze devices.
It resembled less of a tech presentation and more of a scene from a sci-fi thriller.

6/ On the Court
As mentioned, Ledger HQ in Paris features a fully functional basketball court.
Which is, well, awesome. We even got to play!
|
Overall, the event solidified one key message: Ledger is significantly broadening its horizons beyond being known simply as “that Bitcoin USB stick.”
If you missed the event, don’t worry, you haven’t missed the main point. Ledger is strategically positioning itself as the leading bridge between traditional finance and the Web3 landscape.
And if they manage to outmaneuver a few competitors along the way, we’re all for it.
