Bitcoin has experienced a significant decline of over 14% within a week and a staggering 22.7% over the past month. Michael Saylor, Chairman of Strategy, attributes this drop to capital rotation rather than any underlying issues.
In a recent post on X, Saylor highlighted the rapid influx of funding into AI infrastructure, totaling around $400 billion in the last six months. He contrasted this with the $4 billion that has flowed out of U.S.-listed spot ETFs since mid-May.
Essentially, he posited that institutional investors are withdrawing funds from Bitcoin to invest in AI, which has caused a downturn for the leading cryptocurrency. This phenomenon suggests a temporary weakness as capital shifts towards trending sectors, eventually returning to Bitcoin.
“Volatility presents opportunities,” Saylor remarked, maintaining a bullish outlook as the world’s most notable corporate Bitcoin holder.
Recently, Saylor’s Strategy liquidated 32 BTC, a decision analysts believe contributed to the prevailing negative sentiment, exacerbating the price decline. Nonetheless, the firm still possesses a substantial 843,706 BTC.
While some analysts view the AI surge as a challenge for Bitcoin, many pessimists conclude that the recent downturn indicates deeper issues within the crypto market.
