Trading activity on Bithumb, which ranks as the second-largest exchange in South Korea, surged by 132.9%, reaching $934.9 million. Notably, $XRP emerged as the leading cryptocurrency traded on the platform.

Min Jung, a researcher from Presto Research, shared insights with The Block, revealing that the bearish trend that commenced in late 2025 and extended into 2026 led many South Korean investors to step back from the crypto market.

However, Jung pointed out that local investors have recently shifted their focus to equities, yet the recent rise in Bitcoin prices has rekindled their interest in cryptocurrencies.

In light of this, Jung suggested that should this upward momentum persist, there might be significant capital inflows from South Korea into the crypto sector.

Concluding her thoughts, Jung emphasized that South Korean investors typically seek high returns rather than fixating on a single asset. As the Bitcoin-led rally continues, their interest in the cryptocurrency market is likely to grow, potentially fueling further gains.
