Proto, the division focused on bitcoin mining hardware under Jack Dorsey’s Block (NYSE: XYZ), is working on modular mining systems that emphasize both efficiency and longevity. Each hashboard available through Sazmining produces around 200 terahashes per second (TH/s) of computational power with an energy efficiency of approximately 15 joules per terahash (J/TH).

Instead of investing in a complete mining system straight away, clients have the option to purchase separate hashboards, thereby minimizing initial expenditures while keeping ownership of their gear. Sazmining applies a flat fee that encompasses electricity and maintenance services. This rollout follows a substantial hardware provision partnership between the two firms, which they anticipate will grow as demand rises.

“With our aligned-incentive structure, Sazmining profits only when we successfully mine bitcoin for our clients,” stated Kent Halliburton, the CEO and co-founder of Sazmining. “Proto’s hardware is engineered for longevity, which translates to increased uptime for those who invest in it.”

Halliburton also advocated for mining as an alternative route to obtain bitcoin, suggesting that distributing the costs of equipment and electricity over the lifespan of a mining machine offers diversification compared to buying bitcoin directly from exchanges. Nevertheless, the potential profitability of mining is influenced by various factors, including network difficulty, electricity prices, equipment effectiveness, and the fluctuating market value of bitcoin. Therefore, profits are not guaranteed.

The company highlighted its commitment to sustainable energy, stating that its mining operations utilize a carbon-free energy proportion more than 20% higher than the Bitcoin network’s average. Established in 2018, Sazmining runs mining facilities in the United States, Paraguay, and Norway, catering to both individual and institutional clients.
