On October 22, J.P. Morgan Asset Management revealed that two of its tokenized money market funds are officially operational on the Solana network for eligible U.S. investors. The first fund is the My OnChain Net Yield Fund, with the ticker MONY, which is a private offering under Rule 506(c). It has a minimum investment requirement of $1 million and charges a fee of 16 basis points. The second fund, known as the JPMorgan OnChain Liquidity-Token Money Market Fund (ticker JLTXX), is a U.S.-registered government money market fund designed to assist stablecoin issuers in managing their reserves in accordance with the GENIUS Act.
Investors will subscribe and redeem through Morgan Money, the bank’s liquidity platform, and will receive tokens at a recognized blockchain address. This marks the second blockchain engagement for the bank, following the launch on Ethereum, where the JLTXX fund went live in May with an initial $100 million investment from JPMorgan. Paul Przybylski, who oversees digital and tokenized assets at the bank, explained that clients operate across multiple networks, thus their liquidity should be as versatile.
Why Is This Significant for Solana?
JPMorgan becomes the first globally significant bank to launch a money market fund on a public blockchain, positioning Solana as a critical part of this infrastructure. It joins other major players like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton, who introduced tokenized funds on Solana back in 2025. The trend signifies that Wall Street is perceiving Solana as a legitimate infrastructure for cash management rather than merely an experimental platform.
The importance of the GENIUS Act cannot be overlooked. The JLTXX fund allows stablecoin issuers to hold their reserves in a yielding, compliant on-chain asset. Each dollar allocated to Solana strengthens the case for stablecoin issuers to settle on this network. However, it’s worth noting that JPMorgan has not revealed how much capital is in either fund on Solana, and the tokens are restricted, making this an institutional pathway rather than anything available for retail trading.
How Did Solana Price Respond?
It didn’t react significantly. The price of Solana dipped by about 3% over the course of 24 hours, settling around $103.80, with a market capitalization close to $61 billion. During this period, SOL fluctuated between approximately $103 and $109 and has seen a decline of around 12% over the last month, standing 65% below its all-time high of nearly $294 from January 2025.
The underlying reason is straightforward: broader market trends overshadowed the announcement. Bitcoin fell below $82,000 on the same night, U.S. tech shares faced a sell-off, while Bitcoin ETFs experienced $635 million in outflows, and oil prices surged past $110 amid tensions in Hormuz. In a risk-averse market environment, no single partnership announcement can sway a top-ten cryptocurrency’s value. Solana’s decline is more reflective of market conditions than this recent news, and arguably, it’s even fared slightly better than it might have done otherwise.
Solana Price Prediction: Does Institutional Adoption Affect SOL?
In the immediate future, SOL’s trading is influenced by the same macroeconomic signals affecting the market. The $100 price point is critical—it serves as a psychological support level that was recently tested. SkyAI’s proposed $201 million stock repurchase, which relies on SOL sales funds, hinges on maintaining prices above this threshold. A closing below $100 may lead to a decline into the mid-90s.
In the medium term, these developments can create a solid base. The rise of tokenized treasuries and money market funds has become the fastest-expanding real-world asset category on-chain, and Solana now accommodates the three largest U.S. asset management firms. If Bitcoin stabilizes above $80,000, SOL could aim to reclaim $109, with possible further movement towards the $117 to $120 range, marking a plausible first target. Although the JPMorgan news may not directly trigger the next price surge, it provides a strong rationale for buying on subsequent dips.
