Cardano must increase its value by 14 times to return to its all-time peak, whereas XRP only requires a 179% rise. This indicates that XRP has a more manageable recovery trajectory.
ETFs linked to XRP experienced a 22% price rise in late September, but have since encountered outflows and a 15% decline in net assets.
Current stimulants for Cardano lack defined schedules or quantifiable results, with initiatives like Charles Hoskinson working on a new smart contract language.

During late summer, both XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) and Cardano (CRYPTO:ADA) experienced significant gains, which largely evaporated by October 2026. Investors weighing XRP against Cardano are keen to discern which coin presents a clearer path to recovery before year-end.
Currently, XRP is valued at $1.31, having dropped 12.1% in October and 16.3% over the past month. Conversely, Cardano is trading near $0.215, facing a decline of 13.7% within the same 30-day timeframe.

The contrast between the two coins becomes clearer when considering their distance from past peaks. XRP is currently 64% below its peak of $3.65, while Cardano is an astounding 93% away from its high of $3.09.
Cardano’s Recovery Requires a 14-Fold Growth Compared to XRP

For either cryptocurrency to make a complete recovery, they must revisit their all-time highs. XRP needs a 178.6% increase, moving from $1.31 to $3.65, whereas Cardano faces a daunting task of rising nearly 14 times from $0.215 to $3.09. Cardano’s near-total loss in peak value necessitates a more significant climb.
Additionally, the issue of supply dilution complicates recovery prospects. Since their peak valuations, both cryptocurrencies have experienced an increase in circulating supply. For XRP, Ripple has released coins from escrow, while Cardano distributes staking rewards from its reserves. Hence, reaching $3.65 or $3.09 now entails a higher valuation for each network.
XRP has historically outperformed. In the last five years, XRP has increased by 20.8%, while Cardano has decreased by 90%. Over the past year, XRP has dipped 45.4%, compared to Cardano’s 67% drop. Nevertheless, Cardano has demonstrated a stronger recovery recently, rising 28.8% in the last 90 days, versus XRP’s 19.3%. Our assessment of what 10,000 ADA may be worth by 2030 discusses future projections.
XRP ETFs Amped Up XRP in September But Demand Has Since Diminished

XRP spot ETFs hold actual XRP for investors. By October 22, these funds had seen net inflows exceeding $1.8 billion, with total net assets reaching $1.49 billion.
The funds have demonstrated a capacity to notably impact XRP’s pricing. On September 23, they acquired over $18 million, followed by more than $22.6 million on September 25. XRP concluded at $1.57 on September 25, reflecting a 22.3% increase from $1.28 on September 15.
However, interest has since slackened. The funds experienced several days without inflows during October and reported outflows totaling more than $3.2 million on October 2 and over $2.4 million on October 16. Net assets slipped 15.3% from a peak exceeding $1.76 billion on September 25, despite a return to positive inflows of more than $3.5 million on October 22.
Meanwhile, the XRP ledger has hit a milestone of 8.24 million non-empty wallets, as per data from Santiment. A high amount of holders during a sell-off may indicate sustained buying patterns. Nevertheless, XRP has declined by 12.1% in October.
Cardano’s Future Lacks Concrete Timelines or Data Points

The growth factors for Cardano are less quantifiable at this time. On October 21, the Cardano Foundation urged the European Union to exclude decentralized finance (DeFi) and staking from MiCA regulations, advocating that assessments should be based on financial risk to protect Cardano’s staking model. However, they did not specify any deadlines or voting timelines.
On the development side, Cardano’s co-founder Charles Hoskinson has indicated he is personally developing a new smart contract language, but has not specified any details or launch dates.
Furthermore, ADA holders voted against funding for Pogun, a project intended to integrate Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) into DeFi. Hoskinson later suggested that upcoming projects from Input Output, the company behind Cardano, might not be launched on Cardano first. Subsequently, ADA suffered a sharper decline compared to many leading cryptocurrencies in mid-October.
XRP vs Cardano: Analyzing Recovery Prospects
In summary, XRP seems to present a clearer recovery pathway for the remainder of 2026. Measurable ETF demand has previously uplifted prices and has seen an unprecedented number of holders. Conversely, Cardano relies on ambiguous policy frameworks and an anticipated yet unreleased coding language.
That said, neither cryptocurrency is expected to achieve an all-time high by December 31. Should ETF inflows stagnate, XRP might fall below its October 18 low of $1.25 and potentially approach $1.
For XRP, a partial recovery requires ETF net assets to exceed $1.76 billion and a daily closing price above $1.43, where it stagnated in early October, followed by a move towards $1.70, its August 22 high.
In contrast, Cardano needs to clear $0.236 before targeting its October 6 high of $0.282. A sustained close above $0.282 combined with a definitive EU ruling on MiCA could shift the sentiment. If it closes below $0.210, ADA may slide towards its July low of $0.153.
