Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, has issued a warning about the potential security threats posed by artificial intelligence (AI) to the cryptocurrency industry, noting that these risks exist without directly undermining Bitcoin’s (BTC) encryption.

In a recent post on the social media platform X, Zhao expressed that AI-driven cyberattacks are becoming an escalating threat to the crypto landscape.

He highlighted widespread concerns that AI could aim at the encryption frameworks utilized within cryptocurrency systems, but pointed out that the encryption techniques common in online and banking infrastructures may be more susceptible.

Zhao emphasized that AI doesn’t need to bypass Bitcoin’s cryptographic safeguards to inflict substantial harm on crypto holdings.

The Binance co-founder elaborated that historical data breaches can provide opportunities for AI-fueled attacks.

CZ stressed that previously compromised personal and corporate data heightens the risks associated with phishing and social engineering tactics.

In these scenarios, already accessible information can be manipulated to trick users. Advanced AI technologies can aid attackers in crafting more persuasive and targeted fraudulent schemes.

Zhao’s comments underscore that securing cryptocurrency is not solely reliant on the encryption technologies inherent to blockchain systems.

It is equally vital to protect user accounts, safeguard personal data, and implement measures against fraudulent activities within the industry.

According to Zhao’s insights, the threats presented by AI are likely to arise not from breaking Bitcoin’s cryptographic defenses, but from capitalizing on vulnerabilities in current digital systems and exploiting human behavior.

Thus, when evaluating AI-related cyber threats, it’s crucial to focus not only on technical encryption safety but also on tactics that target users.
