Could Bitcoin Be a Key Influencer?

In regard to the reasons behind these increases, Saylor pointed out that the rising prices of Bitcoin [$BTC] serve as a driving force that enhances the firm’s financial standing, likening this growth to a “triple flywheel.”

He elaborated,

We generate credit. We purchase bitcoin. This action elevates bitcoin prices. It boosts the premium value of our common stock, allowing us to issue more common shares. We can reinvest in bitcoin. As bitcoin prices rise, our reserves increase. Therefore, the risk related to credit diminishes, leading to tighter credit spreads. Consequently, we issue more credit and buy more bitcoin.

Additionally, executives at Saturn Credit, a structured finance platform for digital credit, advanced the conversation by clarifying Strategy’s business approach, stating,

We cater to two different investor groups: those focused on fixed-income credit investments and Bitcoin enthusiasts aiming to outperform Bitcoin by holding leveraged positions in MSTR.

This discussion coincided with STRC trading at $99.49 at press time, reflecting an increase of 0.32%. Meanwhile, MSTR stock was noted at $141.40 after rising by 1.13% during the recent trading session.

At the same time, Bitcoin was priced at $81,447.23, marking a 2% increase in the last 24 hours.

Strategy’s Unstable Market Conditions

However, a prior AMBCrypto report revealed that from September 14 to October 18, Strategy made preferred-stock buybacks amounting to nearly $888 million, while investing only $290 million in Bitcoin purchases. This has led to a reduction in cash reserves from $1.3 billion to $447.3 million.

In contrast, large investors acquired a total of 88,987 $BTC, significantly overshadowing Strategy’s 3,466 $BTC acquisitions. Given this scenario, the shrinking cash reserves and dividend duties have raised the question: Are these factors hindering Strategy’s capacity for future Bitcoin buying?

Nonetheless, since STRC remains the largest and most liquid US perpetual preferred, it appears the answer is a definitive ‘No.’
