As Robinhood ventures further into continuous market operations via blockchain technology, two leading executives in the cryptocurrency sector discussed the “unstoppable momentum” of tokenization and the essentials for advancing global financial services on-chain.
Tokenization refers to the process of converting real-world financial assets into digital tokens on a blockchain. This innovative approach is garnering increasing interest as it facilitates the issuance, transfer, and management of assets through blockchain infrastructures.
Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, aligns with this perspective, noting that the landscape of finance is evolving, merging traditional and digital elements. Consequently, market infrastructures are transitioning to modern frameworks. Settlements are now occurring in real-time, around the clock, allowing for tokenized assets to be traded, financed, and utilized as collateral.
Ripple has experienced a remarkable year, with Long highlighting this achievement in a post on X: “This is our most successful year yet—closing in on a $900 million annual product revenue run rate by the end of 2026. Our blockchain solutions, developed with XRPL, are being utilized by clients and partners such as Standard Chartered, DBS, HSBC, Robinhood, and BNY for various applications involving asset movement, storage, tokenization, and deployment.”
Collaboration Between Robinhood and Ripple
The discussion between the crypto leaders coincided with a significant announcement made before the Swell event, revealing a strategic alliance between Ripple and Robinhood aimed at enhancing the future of finance.
Robinhood plans to incorporate Ripple Treasury to streamline and automate its global treasury functions, covering areas such as cash and liquidity management, cash flow predictions, payments, risk assessment, and intercompany netting. This financial services firm will utilize $RLUSD on the XRPL for institutional settlements, expanding the functionality of the stablecoin across Bitstamp, in line with Robinhood’s growing institutional operations.
$RLUSD has been made available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp and is anticipated to be accessible later this year through the Robinhood app.
