Protect your investment! If you purchased the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller for around $85, consider safeguarding it with a travel case. An officially licensed option from RDS Industries appeared on Amazon just before the Switch 2’s debut. The RDS Game Traveler Deluxe Controller Case, priced at $20 on Amazon, is available in a Zelda-themed design or a classic black.
This durable hardshell case is designed to fit both the original and new generations of Switch Pro Controllers, along with Joy-Cons equipped with grip attachments. It’s also compatible with various third-party controllers. Below, we’ve highlighted some gamepads we’ve tested that work well with this case.
$20 | Designed for Switch 2 Pro Controller
Even if you aren’t a dedicated Zelda fan, the subtle branding on this case is appealing. A stylish metallic emblem featuring the game’s logo adorns the center of the top cover, complemented by a golden zipper pull showcasing the Tears of the Kingdom insignia. The product photos don’t accurately display the actual color; it’s a lush forest green, reminiscent of Link’s iconic tunic.
Initially designed for the original Switch Pro Controller and Joy-Cons with grip, the case’s molded bottom also accommodates the Switch 2 Pro Controller perfectly, while also supporting Joy-Con 2 Controllers with the standard or Charging Grip. The internal elastic strap further expands compatibility with various third-party controllers.
The case also includes dedicated slots for two original Switch Joy-Cons beneath the Pro Controller. Note that these slots are sized for original Joy-Cons only, as the Switch 2 versions are too large.
An integrated mesh pocket provides convenient storage for smaller accessories like charging cables and Joy-Con straps.
$20
For those who prefer a more understated look, the case is also available in a black and gray color scheme. This version replaces the Zelda-themed embellishments with the iconic red Nintendo Switch logo.
RDS Industries’ controller cases utilize the same durable ballistic nylon material found in their popular console cases. They’ve already introduced five different styles of Switch 2 console travel bags under the Game Traveler Deluxe line, including a Mario Kart World-themed hardshell option.

If you’re looking to pair your Tears of the Kingdom case with a matching controller, PowerA and Hori offer various third-party options that are compatible. The official Tears of the Kingdom Pro Controller, unfortunately, is difficult to find at its original $75 retail price. However, you can find pre-owned units on Amazon Renewed for approximately $90, or a new one sold by Amazon Japan for around $120.

8BitDo Controllers: Versatile Options for Switch

The RDS Industries case is compatible with all five 8BitDo controllers listed below, including the exceptional Ultimate 2 Bluetooth, currently my favorite for Switch 2. 8BitDo also offers their own carrying cases. A $20 model designed for the Ultimate series and a $15 edition for the Pro 2 (and forthcoming Pro 3) are available. While both fit the Switch 2 Pro Controller, they lack fitted inserts or straps, potentially allowing the controller to move around. Both options include mesh compartments for small accessories.
Worth noting: Amazon offers a compelling deal on the original 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller bundled with the $20 carrying case, bringing the total to only $45.
Controller Cases: 8BitDo and Scuf

Besides the 8BitDo options, the Scuf Universal Controller Protection Case is a popular alternative, priced at $15. This hardshell case from Scuf features a soft, recessed base and is a good fit for Switch Pro Controllers.
