A collaboration between Qareeb Data Centres and Pantheon, a firm specializing in Bitcoin mining, aims to introduce Bitcoin mining data hubs throughout the Middle Eastern region.

According to a signed agreement, Qareeb will identify and secure suitable locations for Pantheon to construct its Bitcoin mining facilities.

These planned Bitcoin mining centers will be strategically positioned near Qareeb’s existing or in-development colocation sites.

The agreement also outlines Qareeb’s responsibility to deliver fully equipped and operational solutions to Pantheon.

Annemarie van Zadelhoff, Chief Strategy Officer at Qareeb, stated, “This partnership with Pantheon is a fantastic opportunity for Qareeb, letting us work with forward-thinking innovators in Bitcoin mining. Pantheon’s commitment to groundbreaking ideas and excellent service is a great match for our goal to offer top-tier data center solutions across the Middle East. We’re excited to use our experience in managing turnkey projects, finding sites, getting permits, and running operations. We’ll make sure Pantheon’s facilities are completely fitted, working well, and supported by our local team around the clock.”

Nick van Houtrijve, COO and founder of Pantheon, commented, “Pantheon’s move into the GCC countries marks a key strategic step as we continue to pursue new standards for how well and efficiently we can operate. By teaming up with Qareeb, we can create strong infrastructure in one of the world’s fastest growing markets for Bitcoin mining.”

Lodewyck Berghuys and Nick van Houtrijve established Pantheon Mining in 2022. Before starting Pantheon, they operated in China and Kazakhstan. However, business operations were impacted by the confiscation of mining equipment in China and issues with grid constraints in Kazakhstan.

Qareeb Data Centres, based in Bahrain, is a provider of Edge data center solutions serving markets across the Middle East. The company is currently implementing a total of 50MW of capacity throughout locations in the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt.

Late last year, Qareeb also formalized a collaborative agreement with Batelco to establish a “White Space Data Center” in Bahrain, which forms part of the Beyon Group’s Data Oasis initiative and is anticipated to be Qareeb’s first data center facility.

Around the same period, Qareeb entered into a partnership with Gcore for digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based service deployments throughout the Middle East region.
