Just when you think it’s over, there’s always one more! CD Projekt taught us this with Cyberpunk 2077, and now Supergiant Games is following suit with Hades 2. To be fair, Supergiant did mention the previous update was “likely” the last before the game’s full launch.

Surprise! An eleventh early access update has arrived in the underworld. However, the developers promise this is absolutely, positively the final one this time!

Looking at the patch 11 notes, the official release date for Hades 2 remains a mystery, but Supergiant is clearly pushing hard towards completion. A key highlight of this patch involves preparing for the “True Ending.” The developers remind players that upon loading their save in version 1.0, any accumulated crafting materials like zodiac sand or void lenses will be automatically converted to prestige.

In addition to this, the update brings a number of adjustments to the Nocturnal Arms’ abilities and aspects. The Umbral Flames, Moonstone Axe, and Black Coat have all received beneficial enhancements. As usual, these changes are accompanied by tweaks to boons, blessings, and Daedalus hammer upgrades to enhance the player experience.

Hexes now cast faster, and good news: Supergiant has buffed a cat! Specifically, Toula the wildcat, who MelinoĆ« can recruit as a familiar in Erebus. Regardless, they’re furry, they purr, and they probably wouldn’t care too much if you met an untimely end.

The developers have also reduced the number of enemies appearing in single waves during battles on Olympus, at the summit, or when encountering Icarus. The Olympus locations will also have more spots for cover. There are further tweaks to common enemies, with Supergiant seemingly focusing more on balancing by reducing power rather than increasing it.

Furthermore, players can no longer die while waiting for Athena to arrive after she promises assistance. This should prevent situations where goddesses are left exclaiming, “Oops, are you okay there?”

Hopefully, we’ll get a full release date announcement soon, as this (fingers crossed!) appears to be the last patch for Hades 2 before version 1.0. Or maybe they’ll just surprise us with a shadow-drop at 3 AM on a random weekday. In the words of the Greek philosopher Socrates: “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
