All signs point to a monumental launch for Battlefield 2025, the latest installment in the iconic series. The game’s beta phase is providing compelling evidence, especially after its initial open weekend. Throughout the past weekend, anyone could jump in and experience the beta, and it rapidly ascended to the top of the charts on Steam.

This surge in popularity followed closely on the heels of the beta’s early access period, available only to those with invites. That phase already established new Steam records for the Battlefield franchise, proving that this was just the beginning of the excitement.

From Saturday through Sunday, the Battlefield 2025 beta opened its doors to everyone, removing the need for a special access code. As a direct consequence, the game witnessed another significant increase in concurrent players on Steam as newcomers flooded into the game.

The Battlefield 2025 beta consistently ranked among the top three most played games on Steam. It reached a peak of 521,079 concurrent players (as tracked by SteamDB), a remarkable achievement. Notably, this figure surpasses the highest concurrent player count of any previous Battlefield game on Steam.

Even more interestingly, it also exceeds the all-time peak concurrent player count for Call of Duty on Steam. The Call of Duty platform, which encompasses multiple titles, boasts a historical peak of 491,670 concurrent players. This includes free-to-play experiences like Warzone, premium annual releases, and various beta tests.

Call of Duty’s Steam high-water mark occurred when the series returned to the platform, concurrent with the launch of Modern Warfare 2 in 2022. While last year’s Black Ops 6 was undoubtedly popular, its concurrent player numbers didn’t reach the same heights as Modern Warfare 2.

It’s important to remember that Steam isn’t the only avenue for playing Battlefield 2025 on PC. Players utilizing EA’s dedicated app and the Epic Games Store aren’t reflected in those Steam peak numbers, not to mention those playing on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Regardless of how you analyze the data, the Battlefield 2025 beta’s performance is impressive. Even if the full game launch on October 10 doesn’t quite match the beta’s peak, the rumored free-to-play component has the potential to push it even further.
