The exclusive preview for the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 beta has launched today across all platforms. This initial access period, available today and tomorrow, doesn’t demand a game pre-order, but requires a special access code.

Guaranteed entry is granted to those who registered for Battlefield Labs when it was originally announced. Alternative routes to acquiring beta codes exist, including watching select Twitch streamers showcasing gameplay.

If you don’t have a code, you will have to wait until the true start of the BF6 beta weekend this Saturday. This is what makes the current player count so impressive.

Almost immediately after the Battlefield 6 beta went live, players experienced extended wait times to log in. EA stated this was implemented on purpose to regulate server traffic during peak moments, such as right after launch.

Evidently, the beta’s popularity is soaring. On Steam, it rapidly climbed to the top of the charts, with a maximum of 296,550 concurrent players (according to SteamDB). This remarkable number placed it in Steam’s top five most-played games.

Currently, it occupies the third position and is holding strong. Furthermore, Battlefield 6 has secured the second spot on Steam’s worldwide best-selling list, outdone only by Counter-Strike 2, based on revenue generated.

These statistics are undeniably outstanding.

Considering that many players in Europe and the Middle East are likely at work, the figures are only projected to increase later today. A significant surge is also anticipated this Saturday with the official launch of the open beta. Furthermore, the beta is accessible through EA’s own application and the Epic Games Store, meaning that Steam isn’t the only measure of players.

The Battlefield 6 beta is also available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Because of that, it is safe to assume the total concurrent player count could be around 800,000 or even 900,000 players, if the Steam data is anything to go by.

We will keep monitoring the situation and will report any developments or potential issues.
