Following the announcement of the launch date and pricing details for Battlefield 6, the development team at DICE also provided insights into the game’s content, including the maps, character movement, and other key features.
The number of maps available at launch is on par with previous titles in the Battlefield series, with the expectation of additional content updates after release.
Battlefield 6 will also introduce an updated movement system that complements the established class structure of the game.
Battlefield 6 Launching with Nine Maps
During the Battlefield 6 unveiling, DICE verified that the game will include a total of nine maps at release. This consists of eight original maps and one reimagined version of a highly-regarded Battlefield 3 map.
The complete list of Battlefield 6 maps at launch:
- Empire State
- Iberian Offensive
- Kundara Valley
- Liberation Peak
- Manhattan Bridge
- New Sobek City
- Operation Firestorm
- Saints Quarter
- Siege of Cairo
While nine maps might seem modest, it aligns with the number found in earlier Battlefield installments. To compare, Battlefield 2042 had only seven maps upon release, while Battlefield 4 holds the record with ten maps available at launch.

In addition to discussing maps, DICE also touched on the game’s class system, which will consist of four familiar roles as seen in previous Battlefield entries.
The game trailer highlighted some of the unique gadgets assigned to each class, showcasing their potential impact on the battlefield.
DICE is implementing a new “kinesthetic” combat system, which is demonstrated in the trailer. Players now have the ability to drag fallen teammates while reviving them to avoid incoming fire. Weapon mounting on cover and peek/lean shooting mechanics will also be making a return.
A new feature will allow players to “hitch a ride” by hanging on to the back of vehicles.
The class structure will consist of Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon roles. While the decision about weapon restrictions per class is still under consideration, each class will have unique characteristics, further differentiating them beyond just the gadgets they can employ in combat.
Based on the revealed information, Battlefield fans are in for something exciting on October 10th. Optimistically, DICE will offer consistent and valuable post-launch support. The details regarding the battle royale mode are scheduled to be revealed at a later time.
