Bitcoin

surged past $70,000 on Friday, a day after narrowly dodging a drop below the vital $60,000 threshold, marking a remarkable recovery.

The cryptocurrency peaked at $71,458.01 on Friday, representing an increase of over 11% during the day. At 3:16 p.m. ET, it was trading at $70,411.33.

This dramatic resurgence followed Bitcoin’s decline below $61,000 on Thursday, which saw it plummet by 15% that day. Many investors are taking this opportunity to buy Bitcoin after its significant drop exceeding 50% from its all-time high of over $126,000 reached last October.

This recovery aligns with a broader rise in the stock market on Friday, pointing to a potential optimistic closure after a tumultuous week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged by 918 points, a gain of 1.9%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 climbed by 1.4%, and the Nasdaq Composite saw an increase of 1.5%.

A shift back to higher-risk assets drove the stock increase amid waning concerns over threats posed by artificial intelligence technologies to software companies. Notable rebounds were seen among major tech firms, with Nvidia and Microsoft rising by 6% and 1%, respectively, reversing near double-digit losses from earlier in the week.

Are further declines for bitcoin possible?

Bitcoin is currently hovering around the crucial $70,000 mark, approximately 45% lower than its peak.

Nevertheless, analysts suggest Bitcoin’s earlier dip below $70,000 might indicate the potential for further declines.

Analyst warns Bitcoin could plunge to $50,000

According to 10X Research, Bitcoin’s value may drop to as low as $50,000 after a possible short-term bounce, as stated by Thielen.

“I anticipate we might see a brief counter-trend rally that could remain steady or experience a minor bounce,” Thielen remarked. “However, I believe we will make another low during the summer.”
