Few gaming franchises command the same widespread recognition as Call of Duty. It’s a true powerhouse, where even a less-than-stellar release can still achieve considerable success thanks to its dedicated player base. Despite any shortcomings, the series has consistently held a top position in the gaming world for a remarkable duration.
However, the landscape appears to be shifting this year, as Battlefield seems to be making a significant resurgence with its latest installment, even before its official launch. The recent Battlefield beta proved immensely popular, boasting triple the peak player count of Battlefield 2042. In the weeks that followed, Battlefield’s popularity began to directly challenge Call of Duty’s dominance.
Of course, the Call of Duty franchise isn’t sitting idle while its competitor potentially siphons off its player base. With the release of Black Ops 7 just under two months away, the time has come to announce plans for an Open Beta period.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Confirms Open Beta Dates
Recently, the Call of Duty team posted the following announcement on X (formerly Twitter): “The countdown to the #BlackOps7 Beta has begun 🗓️ Assemble your squad, spread the word by reposting, and we’ll release some Beta codes. You know what to do 🔥”
Within an hour of their initial announcement, they released the first distribution of 1000 codes. This was swiftly followed by another tweet stating that players can “unlock early access to the Beta by pre-ordering #BlackOps7.”
Early Access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta will be available from October 2nd to October 5th, followed by the Open Beta period from October 5th to October 8th.
Importantly, in their response to the initial post, the phrase “first drop of 1000 codes” was used. Given that there are still over 10 days remaining before the Early Access Beta commences, it is reasonable to expect additional code giveaways in the near future.
Mark your calendars! Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release on November 14th, 2025, and will be available on PC (via Steam, Battlenet, and Xbox), PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
