It’s been quite a while since Activision last mentioned this year’s iteration of Call of Duty, Black Ops 7. In fact, it feels like an age. Gamers got a first glimpse back in June with a short teaser that wrapped up the Xbox Showcase… but information has been scarce since then.

While the publisher indicated further news about the upcoming first-person shooter would arrive sometime during the summer months, they stopped short of providing a specific date for any such reveal.

Now that we’re midway through July, over a month since Black Ops 7 was initially shown to the public, Activision has finally confirmed its return to the spotlight in August.

The highly anticipated title will be featured during gamescom Opening Night Live, scheduled for Tuesday, August 19. Black Ops 7 will simply be part of the broader presentation’s lineup. You can catch the showcase via live stream at 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm UK.

This is noteworthy considering that typically, each year’s Call of Duty release warrants its own dedicated reveal event, separate from other major summer gaming showcases, and hosted directly by Activision.

Exactly what we’ll see on August 19 remains uncertain, leaving open the possibility of a more extensive and in-depth presentation later in August, or possibly early September – potentially one or two weeks preceding the likely beta release.

There’s definitely a lot more that Black Ops 7 developers need to share, especially considering the game’s return to a near-future setting, and the exciting addition of co-op gameplay within the campaign. Fans also anticipate some level of narrative connection between the currently available game, Black Ops 6, and this forthcoming installment. Such an announcement would logically be made sooner rather than later.

While the specific release date for Black Ops 7 hasn’t been announced, it’s widely expected to launch in November for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
