Efficient Factory Layout
Resist the urge to create what players of Satisfactory often call “rat-tail factories” – a sprawling, haphazard chain of interconnected machines. This approach lacks long-term viability. For example, near the Rocky Desert starting location, you’ll discover two pure iron ore deposits. Ultimately, you’ll install Mk3 Miners on each, feeding resources into numerous Smelters. These Smelters, in turn, will supply Constructors producing iron plates, iron rods, and screws. These components will then power Assemblers creating reinforced plates, which themselves feed into additional Constructors manufacturing modular frames, and the list goes on. Achieving desired production rates often necessitates multiple machines or heavily overclocked units.
While initially feasible to place all these machines directly on the ground, the resulting maze quickly becomes an incomprehensible tangle, akin to those infamous photos of unlabeled and hopelessly intertwined network cables. Upon reaching the Tier 2 milestone, you’ll possess all the necessary tools to truly begin constructing your factory with purpose. This is the optimal time to prioritize a more sustainable, organized, and long-term factory design.
