Randy Pitchford, the head of Gearbox, has addressed concerns raised in a recent preview regarding the PC performance of Borderlands 4. He stated that a day-one patch is expected to significantly improve performance. However, he also suggested that players with PCs that do not meet the official minimum system requirements may experience an unplayable game.
Pitchford’s remarks were in response to a Destructoid early review of Borderlands 4 penned by Scott Duwe. While Duwe generally praised the game, his piece highlighted potential performance issues on PC. Via X, Pitchford replied to Duwe, writing, “The Day 1 patch does a lot! However, it emerged that there was a misunderstanding regarding the system specifications used during Duwe’s preview. 2K PR later confirmed that Duwe’s PC did, in fact, meet the required specifications. Furthermore, a faulty power supply was discovered to be a contributing factor to the technical difficulties Duwe experienced. Consequently, Duwe updated his preview, stating, “After working with 2K PR, I’ve worked out the majority of the worst graphical issues I was having.”
