Just like its predecessor, Hollow Knight: Silksong offers multiple conclusions for players who delve deep into its world. While one ending is readily accessible through normal gameplay, several others await those who meet specific requirements.
Unlocking these alternative endings requires considerable effort, mirroring the original Hollow Knight’s approach. Each one boasts a distinct animated sequence, showcasing the consequences of player choices.
Depending on your definition, Silksong contains between three and five unique endings. For this guide, we’ll treat all five as individual outcomes, even though experiencing three of them within a single playthrough is possible as they don’t prevent each other.
However, the remaining two endings are mutually exclusive. They can only be achieved at the close of Act 2 if the conditions for progressing further are not met. This guide will detail the exact steps needed to witness each ending, ensuring you don’t miss a single one.
Weaver Queen
This is the standard ending, achieved by avoiding the conditions for the Twisted Child and Snared Silk endings. It requires completing the core objectives and reaching the Cradle, located at the citadel’s peak.
The basic requirements include acquiring the dash and wall jump abilities, obtaining the Needolin, and accessing the Citadel. Entry can be gained either by activating all the bells and defeating the Last Judge, or by secretly infiltrating through the Mist and vanquishing the Phantom.
Upon reaching the Citadel, you’ll need to confront the Cogwork Dancers, collect the three song fragments from the Cogwork Core, the Vault, and the High Halls. As you ascend, you’ll face Lace before ultimately defeating Grand Mother Silk.
This results in Hornet bonding with Grand Mother Silk, absorbing her power, and claiming the title of Weaver Queen, effectively overthrowing the previous ruler of Pharloom. However, this ending is arguably just the beginning of a larger story.
Twisted Child
Instead of taking the conventional route and presenting the Twisted Bud to the surgeon to transform it into a respectable crest, you can embrace the curse. Then, proceed to the Cradle and battle the final boss.
This path leads to the Cursed Ending, also known as the Twisted Child ending. In this scenario, you face Grand Mother Silk without any tools, silk abilities, or healing options. Surprisingly, this limitation doesn’t make the fight excessively difficult and, arguably, enhances the experience.
This ending becomes inaccessible if you progress to the next act through one of the other endings. Therefore, to experience everything, only initiate the Rite of Rebirth quest when you’re prepared to complete the game.
Choosing this path prevents Hornet from binding Grand Mother Silk after the battle. Instead, the Twisted Child emerges from her, seizing control of her, Grandma Silk, and possibly the entire kingdom, as depicted in the ending cutscene.
Snared Silk
This is less of a true ending and more of a transition to the next one, though credits do appear after the cutscene, hence its inclusion. Instead of directly engaging Grand Mother Silk, some preliminary work is required.
This involves completing every quest available on the quest boards in all three towns, including the donation quests. Furthermore, you need to acquire the Faydown Cloak, assemble the Cogheart and deliver it to the Second Sentinel, along with any other side quests found throughout the world.
One particularly challenging aspect is locating the Putrified Ducts, finding the lake within, and gathering almost every flea in the game, encouraging them to relocate there. After completing these tasks, the enigmatic figure at the chapel in Songclave will entrust you with a new mission.
This involves traveling the kingdom, communicating with his siblings (a journey that unfortunately involves traversing Bilewater), and retrieving a tool from Weavenest Atla. Once all this is accomplished, you can play your needolin after defeating Grand Mother Silk, trapping both her and Lace within the void.
Sister of the Void
Following the previous events, you can sever the void-infused threads that bind your save file. Upon reloading, you’ll find yourself in a desolate world. Soon after, you’ll be instructed to seek out the Snail Shamans located at the ruined chapel in Moss Grotto.
They task you with defeating three challenging dream bosses located at the Coral Tower, near the Grand Gate, and within the Far Fields. Alternatively, you can acquire a heart from the Green Prince by finding him at the eastern edge of Greymoor, a considerably easier option.
Once you possess three hearts, you can return to the Snail Shaman, traverse an impressive retelling of Hornet’s backstory, and obtain the Everbloom, reminiscent of the Delicate Flower in Hollow Knight.
Hornet can then carry the Everbloom into the Abyss, plunge into its depths, and engage in a final duel against a void-corrupted Lace, in order to dispel the darkness and save both her and the kingdom. This ending feels like the true culmination of the story and is significantly more satisfying, especially due to the appearance of a specific character during the final cutscene.
Passing of the Age
This ending and the previous one are not mutually exclusive, unlike the others. Meeting the requirements for Passing of the Age will trigger an additional cutscene at the conclusion of the Sister of the Void ending, so you won’t miss anything by pursuing only this one.
To unlock this ending, begin at the lake where the Fleas have taken residence. Locate a hole in the ceiling near the highest point of the rocks. Use a super jump to ascend and play the needolin to communicate with Mister Mushroom.
Mr. Mushroom will then embark on a journey to several locations in a specific order: Moss Grotto, Bone Bottom, Far Fields, Greymoor, The Slab, the peak of Mount Fay, and finally, the top of a newly unlocked room within The Cradle.
After navigating some challenging platforming sections, you can speak with the mushroom man for one final time, and then battle Lost Lace once more. After the Sister of the Void ending, Mr. Mushroom takes off again, complete with another “To Be Continued,” just like in the original Hollow Knight.
