Gaming enthusiasts, especially those captivated by The Witcher saga, have been keenly anticipating details about “The Blood of Dawnwalker.” This buzz stems from its development by Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of seasoned developers formerly at CD Projekt Red, a company established back in 2022.
Even prior to the official unveiling of this action RPG, Bandai Namco, known for publishing Witcher games, partnered with Rebel Wolves for their debut title. This collaboration reflects significant confidence in the project’s potential. The game had its initial reveal earlier this year, and just recently, we were treated to a more in-depth look.
During the Xbox Games Showcase, viewers witnessed a brand-new gameplay trailer for “The Blood of Dawnwalker,” the open-world action RPG envisioned by ex-CDPR creatives. The trailer focuses heavily on gameplay, showcasing the project’s visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5.
While the influence of the Witcher series is apparent, the combat system appears significantly faster and more dynamic. It will be interesting to compare the utilization of vampiric abilities in this game to how frequently Witcher signs were employed in the Witcher games.

“The Blood of Dawnwalker” may have a name that’s a bit of a mouthful, but the game clearly evokes a Witcher-esque experience with the added element of vampire powers. The game is set in a fictionalized, 14th-century Europe during the time of the Black Death bubonic plague.
Amidst the chaos of the plague, vampires emerge as a powerful force, seeking to reclaim their lost dominance. The game’s first chapter casts players as Coen, a human transformed into a Dawnwalker, capable of traversing both the realms of daylight and darkness.
Rebel Wolves emphasizes significant player choices and consequences, offering players the opportunity to forge a unique path that will challenge their loyalty to humanity against the potential for good achievable through their vampiric powers.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
