It’s been over two years since the conclusion of Disney’s animated fantasy series, Owl House, a show known for its ambitious storytelling. Furthermore, it’s been more than a year since we last witnessed the beloved Owl House characters in the studio’s humorous Chibi Tiny Tales shorts. This series showcases adorable, simplified renditions of Disney figures participating in tiny escapades via a sequence of miniature shorts, occasionally intermingling with other Disney properties. Prior Chibi Tiny Tales episodes have included crossovers featuring both Owl House and the animated show Amphibia, alongside tales starring Rapunzel from Tangled, along with personalities hailing from DuckTales and Moana.

This Halloween 2025, Disney is reviving the chibi Owl House with an all-new short. This episode provides a never-before-seen view of the fearsome Emperor Belos. We see him as an ordinary individual simply trying to savor a chilled (and suspiciously glowing-green) smoothie on a warm day, until Helen, the inconsiderate educator from Kiff, jostles him, leading to a spill. His ensuing attempt at retaliation falls far short of anything genuinely frightening. This short is currently available for viewing here and will be broadcast on the Disney Channel starting on Sept. 29.

As part of the 2025 spooky season, Disney is expanding the Halloween-themed stop-motion Mickey Mouse shorts, initially launched last year under the title Mickey’s Spooky Stories. This is a spin-off from the 2023 stop-motion special, Mickey and Friends: Trick or Treats. These shorts are once more crafted by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the production firm renowned for Robot Chicken, with David H. Brooks of The Simpsons serving as both director and producer.

The 2024 shorts presented concise narratives, featuring Mickey, Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, and Goofy sharing spooky tales in the dark. The 2025 shorts, grouped under the banner Mickey and Minnie’s Holiday Songs: Halloween, will transition into the format of music videos instead.

Polygon has exclusive access to the newest short, wherein Mickey’s ensemble embarks on a ghostly hayride towards a haunted house, all set to a reimagined rendition of “This is Halloween” originating from Tim Burton and Henry Selick’s stop-motion film classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas. This activity remains entirely cheerful; no skeletal monarchs are poised to capture the characters. Despite Mickey and his companions appearing somewhat uneasy and hesitant throughout much of the short, a delightful surprise awaits them at the conclusion. It’s also worth noting that they continue to sport the same trick-or-treat costumes donned in recent years. However, Minnie’s tarantula costume grows increasingly endearing and fluffy with each passing Halloween.

Furthermore, two additional Halloween-themed stop-motion music videos are planned, showcasing Mickey Mouse and his costumed friends dancing to sing-along remixes of “Hot Dog!” and “Monster Boogie” from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. These shorts will premiere on Disney Jr. on Sept. 29 and on Disney Plus on Oct. 2, with the associated songs being released by Walt Disney Records on Oct. 3. A word of caution regarding “Hot Dog!”: its addictive melody rivals that of “Baby Shark” and is likely to occupy areas of your brain otherwise intended for more productive purposes. This may be more unnerving than anything presented in Disney’s Halloween shorts for 2025.
