    DualSense Unleashed: Multi-Device Pairing Arrives on PS5 Beta

    Sony PlayStation is currently developing the next significant system software upgrade for the PS5. Gamers will soon have the chance to experience it firsthand through the beta program.

    A standout feature in this upcoming firmware version is an enhancement for the DualSense PS5 controller, including the Edge model. This update will allow users to pair their controller with multiple devices more efficiently, eliminating the need to re-pair each time.

    Although a firm launch date for the system-wide update remains under wraps, the beta version is scheduled for a global release within the “coming months,” suggesting a further wait before its public availability.

    Among the key enhancements, the DualSense controller’s pairing process is set to become more streamlined and user-friendly. Previously, connecting the PS5 controller to alternate devices like PCs or mobile required a full re-pairing procedure each time.

    Thanks to this upcoming system improvement, users will have the capability to register up to four different devices simultaneously, enabling easy switching between them directly from the controller itself.

    Once the update is live, gamers can seamlessly transition their DualSense controller from their PS5 to a PC for gaming, or even to their smartphones for Remote Play, all without cumbersome reconnection steps.

    Switching between paired devices will be straightforward. Sony’s official blog provides an accessible, step-by-step guide outlining the simplicity of the device-switching process.

    1. Activate the target device you wish to connect.
    2. Simultaneously press and hold one of the action buttons alongside the PS button for approximately three seconds. Release both buttons once the light bar and player indicator begin to flash. The light bar will illuminate, and the player indicator lights will blink in accordance with the assigned slot number.

    In a nod to environmental consciousness, the upcoming PS5 update will also introduce a new “Power Saver” option.

    Accessible via the settings menu after the update, this feature will not be immediately available for testing during the beta phase but is scheduled for release alongside the DualSense enhancements. More specifically, users will see a new option in the settings menu called “Power Saver.”

    According to Sony, compatible PS5 titles will dynamically adjust performance, allowing the console to reduce its overall power consumption when this feature is active. It’s important to note that not all games will support this functionality, and users can opt-out to maintain peak performance and standard power usage.

    While the exact release date for the update is yet to be announced, more details are expected to emerge as the beta program rolls out to testers around the globe.

    Separately, in other PlayStation-related announcements, Sony is temporarily making the 30th Anniversary merchandise available again, offering another opportunity for fans to acquire coveted items that were previously affected by scalping.

    Looking further ahead, Sony has confirmed a significant update aimed at boosting performance for the PS5 Pro, scheduled for release in 2026.
