After a remarkable 13-week inflow run, XRP ETFs recorded an outflow of $1.84 million, marking just 0.1% of the $1.47 billion in total assets.
The decline of XRP by 8.7% over the week significantly surpassed Bitcoin’s 1.7% and Ethereum’s 3.4% drops, likely instigating investor sell-offs.
XRP ETF investors are currently facing a combined loss of $330 million, having invested $1.80 billion while the fund’s market value is now at $1.47 billion.

According to SoSoValue data, XRP ETFs saw outflows totaling $1.84 million during the week ending October 16, 2026, ending a 13-week streak of positive inflows. Spot XRP ETFs directly hold XRP (CRYPTO:XRP), enabling investors to purchase the cryptocurrency through traditional brokerage accounts.
The outflows from XRP ETFs align with a decline in the cryptocurrency’s value, which was trading at approximately $1.30 on October 18. Over the past week, it dropped 6.9% and is down 29.1% for 2026, although it has increased by 30.3% over the past 60 days.

XRP ETFs Experience a $1.84 Million Outflow Ending a 13-Week Streak

Net flow indicates the money put into a fund versus the money taken out. A negative flow signifies that redemptions exceeded new investments. This week, U.S. spot XRP ETFs experienced only one positive day with inflows after maintaining a streak of inflows since July.
Even with the outflow, it remains minimal relative to the total assets. As of October 16, the ETFs held $1.47 billion in net assets, meaning that the $1.84 million outflow constitutes around 0.1% of the entire pool. This decrease in inflows occurred during a challenging period for the cryptocurrency market.

Throughout that week, the funds experienced minimal net changes. On October 12 and 13, the ETFs recorded no net flow. Buyers entered the market on October 14, leading to a modest inflow of around $740,000, sourced solely from the Bitwise XRP ETF (NYSE:XRP). However, by October 15, the funds saw a slight net outflow of about $105,000.

Notably, Bitwise alone incurred a loss of about $3.75 million that day, while other companies experienced inflows of approximately $3.6 million, helping to mitigate Bitwise’s losses.
On October 16, outflows increased significantly to around $2.47 million. Bitwise reported no net flow that day, indicating that funds from Canary, Grayscale, Franklin Templeton (NYSE:BEN), and 21Shares were withdrawn, although exact figures for these four funds remain unclear.
The Downward Trend in XRP and Its Impact on the Market

XRP’s value has tumbled more sharply compared to other cryptocurrencies. It dropped 8.7% in the week leading up to October 17, while Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) and Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) saw lesser declines of 1.7% and 3.4%, respectively. This could have provoked XRP holders to sell as ETF investors typically respond to market fluctuations.
On a longer timeline, XRP’s value has plummeted 43.1% from $2.29 in October 2025, leaving previous investors in the red.
This selling pressure wasn’t restricted to XRP; the total cryptocurrency market cap decreased by 3.5% within 24 hours leading up to October 17, accompanied by an 11.9% rise in trading volume. This trading increase during price drops typically indicates increased selling activity. On October 15, BlackRock’s CEO (NYSE:BLK) raised apprehensions regarding a possible Bitcoin market collapse, which intensified market anxieties.
Are XRP ETF Investors Facing Challenges?

Since the introduction of XRP ETFs, cumulative net inflows reached $1.80 billion as of October 16. However, the total market value of XRP held in these funds is now only $1.47 billion, implying a loss of around $330 million for ETF investors.
As a result, some investors may contemplate selling during a price rebound to recoup losses, which could hinder XRP’s recovery efforts.
Is the Trend of XRP ETF Inflows at an End?
A single negative week does not necessarily indicate a long-lasting trend. The outflow of $1.84 million appears minor when compared to the $1.47 billion in assets. The flow breakdown for October 15 reinforces this perception; while Bitwise faced a loss of $3.75 million, other funds experienced gains, suggesting the movement may have been a shift within ETFs rather than a complete exit from the market.
If there are net inflows from October 19 to 23 and XRP manages to surpass $1.40—its price on October 10, roughly 8% above the current price—it might indicate this drop was temporary. Conversely, if XRP ETF outflows exceed $1.84 million again in the following week while XRP stays below $1.40, it could signal the end of the 13-week inflow trend.
