Blast Concludes Operations
The company Blast has officially announced the suspension of its Ethereum layer 2 network, citing its inability to meet financial obligations and a lack of clear pathways toward sustainable profitability.
They notified users that the operational costs of the chain now exceed its earnings, establishing October 26 as the final date for withdrawals via Blast’s typical interface.
Post October 26, the withdrawal process will shift to direct interactions with Blast’s bridge contracts on Ethereum, with the team estimating that they can cut the withdrawal wait time to 24 hours.
“Users must complete withdrawals through Blast’s interface before Oct. 26.”

The winding-down procedure at Blast involves a brief hiatus to liquidate its position in Lido, an undertaking the team anticipates will require approximately one week before they can start reducing the usual seven-day withdrawal timeframe to 24 hours.
Additionally, Blast intends to provide guidelines for direct withdrawals via the bridge contracts ahead of the cutoff date of October 26.

Withdrawals via the usual interface will continue until the October 26 deadline, though there will be a temporary suspension of withdrawals while the team processes the Lido asset withdrawals.
Once the Lido withdrawals are completed, Blast plans to shorten its withdrawal delay to 24 hours and reinstate the process with this new waiting period.
The shutdown announcement has left questions about the future of the BLAST token; Altcoin Buzz noted that the situation regarding the token’s future remains unclear.
According to Decrypt, Blast’s shutdown is part of a larger trend this year, as other Ethereum layer 2 solutions like Zero Network and Silicon Network have also ceased operations, with Silicon Network halting deposits on September 2 and giving its users until December 31 for withdrawals.
