A recent announcement on August 4th revealed that BitMine Immersion Technologies now possesses a substantial Ethereum (ETH) treasury. The company declared holdings exceeding 833,137 ETH, translating to a valuation exceeding $2.9 billion, solidifying its position as the world’s largest corporate holder of this cryptocurrency.
This accumulation propels BitMine ahead of its competitors, notably surpassing SharpLink, which previously held a reported 438,000 ETH.
Furthermore, BitMine’s expanded ETH holdings have elevated it to third place globally among crypto treasuries, only surpassed by institutions primarily invested in Bitcoin: Strategy (previously MicroStrategy) and Marathon Digital Holdings, a major BTC mining organization.
Tom Lee, Chairman of BitMine’s board and a co-founder of Fundstrat Global Advisors, commented:
“BitMine acted quickly in its ambition to capture a significant portion of the ETH market. In just 35 days, we’ve amassed over 833,000 ETH, starting from zero. This swift expansion of our crypto NAV per share and the high liquidity of our stock sets us apart from our peers in the crypto treasury space.”
BMNR Attracts Institutional Investment
The market has taken notice of BitMine, with the company’s stock (ticker symbol BMNR) experiencing a significant increase in trading volume.
According to data from Fundstrat, BMNR has seen an average daily trading volume of $1.6 billion over the last five trading days. This figure places it 42nd among all publicly traded US companies, closely following the popular ride-sharing service, Uber.
Coupled with this increased trading activity, BitMine’s stock value has increased dramatically, growing over 300% since implementing its ETH-focused strategy.
This positive trend appears fueled by rising interest from institutional investors. Major players now include Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest and Bill Miller III, a senior advisor at Miller Value Partners and Patient Capital Management.
Miller, well-known for endorsing MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin adoption in 2020, identifies similar potential in BitMine’s strategy.
He stated:
“The interesting aspect of BitMine is its potential for significant profitability once the company initiates ETH staking. In my experience, the most effective management teams base their decisions on sound evidence, demonstrate independent thinking, and allocate capital with the goal of achieving returns that exceed the cost of capital.”
